The musical component is central to the marching band. It includes a variety of instruments, such as brass, woodwinds, percussion, and sometimes electronics. Each section contributes to the overall sound, and the choice of music and arrangements is crucial.

Members of the band must be skilled in marching. This involves precise steps, posture, and formations. Proper marching technique ensures that the band moves as one cohesive unit during performances.

The drumline is a critical part of the percussion section and often includes snare drums, bass drums, tenor drums, and cymbals. They provide rhythm and add excitement to the performance.

The color guard, also known as the auxiliary or flag corps, adds a visual element to the performance. They use flags, rifles, and other props to enhance the visual aspects of the show, creating dynamic and colorful visuals.
